Southern Colorado colleges cooperate to improve regional education. Fueled by a $750,000 Fund for the Improvement of Postsecondary Education grant from the U.S. Department of Education, a group of southern Colorado colleges and universities will work cooperatively to increase the number of southern Colorado residents who attend college. Admission policy changes end nursing wait lists. The end of a Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences admissions process that spawned a 400-person, three-year wait list is within sight, college officials announced this week. (More)

Lamar Community College, UCCS announce "Two plus Two" program. Lamar Community College and UCCS announced the beginning of a significant partnership between the two colleges during halftime of a scrimmage between the LCC and UCCS men's basketball teams Wednesday night. (More)

Town hall comes to campus. CU President Bruce Benson and UCCS Chancellor Pam Shockley-Zalabak led a town hall-style meeting with faculty, staff and students Friday morning. See photos of the event. (More)

Flu shot benefit extended. The Student Health Center will offer flu shots to all adult members of the campus community, including spouses and partners, this fall. The $20 vaccination protects against H1N1 strains as well as other forms of the flu virus. (More)

Workshop blasts off. UCCS will host some of the world's leading rocket scientists at the Advanced Space Propulsion Workshop, organized by the National Institute of Science, Space and Security Centers and Andrew Ketsdever, assistant professor, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. (More)

Forum scheduled for Nov. 5. Peg Bacon, provost, and Charlie Sweet, executive director, Strategic Planning and Initiatives, will lead the November Chancellor's Forum. (More)

Sounds of music. The UCCS Music Ensemble will perform for 15 minutes beginning at noon next Monday through Friday in the entrance of Kraemer Family Library. The ensemble, led by Jane Rigler, instructor, Visual and Performing Arts, hopes to use the tall, circular space as an instrument and to explore its acoustics.

Kudos Award-winning disabilities documentary began at UCCS. A production that debuted at UCCS was recently honored with an Award of Merit from The Accolade Competition. (More)

Official of Financial Aid announces promotions, changes. Several personnel changes within the Office of Financial Aid and Student Employment were recently announced by Robert Bode, director. (More)
