Announcements/Features

Ballroom to become Berger Hall. The University Center Ballroom will be named in honor of a longtime behind-the-scenes UCCS benefactor in Sept. 14 ceremonies. (More)

Mini marble mountain lion to grace Gallogly. A 32-inch marble replica of the mountain lion that graces the University Center Plaza will be unveiled tonight at the Gallogly Events Center. (More)

UCCS UTeach Program gets formal launch. The National Math and Science Initiative will announce Wednesday that grants from entrepreneur and philanthropist Lyda Hill of Colorado Springs and Dallas will establish a new UTeach program at UCCS. (More)

Bike to School Day offers fun, exercise. The second annual UCCS Bike to School Day Sept. 15 will encourage fun but with a serious message. (More)

New library display shows mascot history. An exhibit tracing the history of UCCS athletic mascots and campus spirit symbols recently opened on the third floor of the Kraemer Family Library (More)

EPIIC celebrates accomplishments. About 150 people are expected to attend a luncheon next week to receive the annual report and to celebrate the accomplishments of El Pomar Institute for Innovation and Commercialization. (More)

VAPA, Colorado Springs Conservatory make music. The music program in the Department of Visual and Performing Arts recently completed a partnership agreement with the Colorado Springs Conservatory to connect high school students with college-level music ensembles and instruction. (More)

CU-Boulder closely watching Fourmile Canyon fire. The worst fire in Colorado history has officials at CU-Boulder on high alert and has already affected some campus employees and those at the CU System. (More)

CCHE meets on campus. The Colorado Commission on Higher Education, the statewide coordinating body, conducted its regular business meeting at UCCS this week with future funding of higher education dominating the discussion.
