First fall forum. The first fall forum, scheduled for 9 a.m. Aug. 31 in the University Center theater, will begin with an overview of the university's budget. (More)
Biochemistry degrees now offered. The Colorado Department of Higher Education approved UCCS to offer Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees in Biochemistry. (More)
U.S. News 2011 Best Colleges Guide: UCCS seventh in the West, engineering lauded. Undergraduate engineering at UCCS is among the best in the nation and the high-quality of all programs make UCCS among the best public universities in the Western United States, according to the editors of U.S. News and World Report. UCCS a 2011 military friendly school. G.I. Jobs magazine named UCCS to its 2011 list of Military Friendly Schools, an honor given to the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools working to embrace America's veterans as students. (More)
Students get high-level help. More than half of an anticipated 1,200-student UCCS freshman class had some high-level help when they moved to campus Aug. 17. (More)
Abrams' convocation address offers counsel. Gene Abrams shared insight gained from 29 years as a professor and nine years as a college student with UCCS freshmen Aug. 19. (More)
Centennial Hall opens with fanfare. At an Aug. 19 dedication ceremony, Chancellor Pam Shockley-Zalabak officially re-named the Science Building Centennial Hall and concluded a year-long, $17 million renovation project. (More)
Campus complies with fire testing statute. Fire alarm testing will continue on campus next week as UCCS completes mandated testing of its fire emergency procedures. (More)
Interim benefits counsel offered. A benefits counselor will be at UCCS five days during the fall semester to assist current and retired faculty and staff members. (More)
Heather Albanesi, assistant professor, Sociology, recently published "Gender and sexual agency: how young people make choices about sex." The book was published Lexington Books, Lanham, Md.
Elissa Auther, assistant professor, Visual and Performing Arts, recently published "String, Felt, Thread: the Hierarchy of Art and Craft in American Art." The book was published by the University of Minnesota Press.
Raphael Sassower, professor, Philosophy, and Louis Cicotello, professor, Visual and Performing Arts, recently published "War images: fabricating reality." The book was published by Lexington Books, Lanham, Md.
New faculty arrive. Meet 13 new tenured and tenure track faculty members who recently joined UCCS. Their names, titles, department and college, and brief information about them follows. Next week, new instructors will be introduced. (More)
Hill to lead global education. In an effort to improve global education at UCCS, Chancellor Pam Shockley-Zalabak recently appointed Amy Hill as director of campus-wide efforts. (More)
