Local economy slowly improving. The Colorado Springs economy has bottomed and is recovering but it's far from "happy days are here again," according to Fred Crowley, associate director of the Southern Colorado Economic Forum and senior instructor in the College of Business. (More)

Wells Fargo donates to scholarships. Five UCCS students will receive a scholarship as the result of a grant made by Wells Fargo to the CU Foundation. (More)

Financial Aid assists with College Goal Sunday. Potential college students and their parents can get free help in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid as part of College Goal Sunday from 2-6 p.m. Feb. 21 at Columbine Hall. (More)

Assembly approves ethics code. After minor revisions, the UCCS Faculty Assembly unanimously passed a motion to approve an academic ethics code presented at its Feb. 12 meeting. The code clarifies responsibilities on the parts of students and faculty members to maintain and promote standards of integrity within the university community. (More)

Regents chair visits Faculty Assembly. Praising a "fabulous leadership team" at UCCS for insight and optimism during trying times, CU Board of Regents Chair Steve Bosley addressed the Feb. 12 meeting of the UCCS Faculty Assembly. (More)

March forum scheduled. Brian Burnett, vice chancellor, Administration and Finance, will lead a campus forum beginning at 3 p.m. March 2 in the University Center Theater to update progress on initiatives created to assist campus finances. Chancellor Pam Shockley-Zalabak will also provide an update on the university's budget and actions by the General Assembly. Faculty and staff are encouraged to attend.

10 minutes, 10 questions. Federal census forms will begin arriving next month and will generate data that will determine representation as well as federal funding for numerous programs including schools, according to Robyn Marschke, director, Institutional Research. Marschke encouraged campus community members to participate in the census. See a public service announcement on the census here.

Minette Church, associate professor, Anthropology, was recently selected as the Cotsen Fellow in Archaeology at the School of Advance Research, Santa Fe, N.M. Church will spend two months in Santa Fe this summer.

Marguerite Cantu, senior instructor, Communication, was recently awarded a scholarship from the Council on International Educational Exchange and was accepted into the International Faculty Development Seminar. In June, she will travel to Tibet and China.
