Campus posts more than 7 percent enrollment gain. Spring credit hour enrollment at UCCS increased by more than 7 percent from a year ago and headcount increased by more than 6 percent, according to figures released today by the Office of Admissions and Records. (More)

Veteran administrator selected as vice chancellor. A college administrator with more than 30 years experience will become vice chancellor for student success and enrollment management at UCCS. (More)

Political, business leaders highlight Black History Month event. The speaker of the Colorado House of Representatives will be the keynote speaker for a Black History Month celebration at UCCS Feb. 16. (More)

Visitor of distinction. Helen Thorpe, a journalist and author, shared insights from her first book, Just Like Us: The True Story of Four Mexican Girls Coming of Age in America, on campus this week. She also signed copies of the book. See pictures of the event.

Jazz in the space age. The UCCS Visual and Performing Arts Department will join the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center to produce “The Bottesini Project” beginning at 8 p.m. Feb. 13 at the Fine Arts Center, 30 West Dale. The ensemble features Glen Whitehead, assistant professor, VAPA, on trumpet. (More)

GOCA 121 first exhibition opens tonight: POINT A: a place to start, the first exhibition scheduled at the new UCCS new downtown gallery, GOCA 121, will open with a public reception scheduled for 6-9 p.m. tonight at 121 South Tejon. (More)

Geography faculty to study military land restoration. David Havlick, assistant professor, Geography and Environmental Studies, recently received a $244,000 grant from the National Science Foundation to study the ecological restoration of former military lands. (More)

Regents to meet on campus. The CU Board of Regents will meet at the Lodge Feb. 10 and 11 beginning at 9 a.m. both days. On Feb. 11, the Regents will recognize Don Klingner, professor, School of Public Affairs, as a distinguished professor. See the board agenda here.
