Announcements

Winter Commencement set. An estimated 400 August and December UCCS graduates will participate in commencement exercises scheduled for 2 p.m. Dec. 18 at the World Arena. (More)

Events Center moves closer to completion. The smell of fresh lacquer wafted through central UCCS this week as workers completed flooring for the new UCCS Events Center scheduled for a Jan. 22 grand opening celebration. Sneak a peek here. (More)

Directories delayed. New printed campus telephone directories are delayed and will be distributed as soon as they arrive, hopefully in the next two weeks, according to the Telecommunications Department.

CU System updates. See the newest CU System newsletter.

Last Communique. Communique will take a break between semesters to revamp. Several new features will be included for the spring semester. The first edition is planned for Jan. 22.

Kudos

Mike Friloux named Employee of the Quarter. His qualifications include singing while cleaning bathrooms, encountering cantankerous wildlife, and taming a flaming vacuum cleaner, according to his nomination form. (More)

Sandy Wurtele, professor, Psychology, recently returned from Lisbon, Portugal where she taught a two-day workshop sponsored by the Portuguese Association for the Study and Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse.

Brian Yochim, assistant professor, Psychology, recently passed requirements for board certification in clinical neuropsychology. There are only 16 board-certified clinical neuropsychologists in Colorado and 701 in the US and Canada.
