UCCS must grow to avoid financial cliff. Faced with the potential for a steeper than expected financial “cliff effect,” Chancellor Pam Shockley-Zalabak told a standing room only crowd at the University Center Theater Thursday that enrolling and retaining students is vital to the university’s ability to withstand its current financial crisis. UCCS a partner in military computer security grant. TiER1 Performance Solutions will work collaboratively with UCCS students and faculty to train military supervisors to recognize cyber security threats. (More)

Holiday party cookies, RSVPs needed. Faculty and staff who plan to attend the annual campus holiday festivities are encouraged to respond to the Office of the Chancellor, exec1@uccs.edu, by Monday, Dec. 7. Festivities are scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. Dec. 10 in the Upper Lodge. A cookie exchange is planned with prizes awarded. Donation of a new or excellent condition used children’s book is encouraged.

H1N1 clinic scheduled. A second H1N1 vaccination clinic will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7 in the UC Gym. The free, walk-in clinic is available to faculty and staff who are infant care givers, less than 24 years old, or between 25 and 64 with health conditions such as asthma, heart ailments and diabetes. Center sponsors finance discussion. The UCCS-based Center for the Study of Government and the Individual will sponsor the second annual State of Higher Education in El Paso County luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Dec. 16 at the Antlers Hilton. Chancellor to attend conference, Nobel Peace Prize event. Chancellor Pam Shockley-Zalabak will attend the 8th Annual Public Services Summit beginning Dec. 9 in Stockholm, Sweden, as one of 300 people invited from throughout the world to participate. The summit concludes with the Nobel Peace Prize Concert Dec. 11 in Oslo, Norway. Chancellor Shockley-Zalabak will attend the events as a personal expense.

Printed directories to arrive soon; 255 a year later. New printed campus telephone directories should arrive through campus mail next week. (More)
