CU Foundation showcases donors, impact. The foundation charged with raising, managing and investing funds on behalf of the university recently released an annual report summarizing activities in the 2009 fiscal year. See the report (6 MB PDF file).

Veteran brings inspiring message. A small but enthusiastic audience turned out in the Lodge Monday to hear Sgt. 1st Class Dana Bowman tell how determination and drive overcame injury and adversity in his life. (More)

Save the date: Event Center unveiling is close. In what looked to be a giant game of Jenga, contractors recently assembled 13,000 square feet of hardwood floors as the UCCS Event Center moves toward completion and a 4 p.m. Jan. 22 official opening. (More)

Policies impact everyone. Speakers at the Nov. 11 UCCS Staff Council general meeting reminded the group that policy affects how, when and where employees do their jobs. And it pays to know the policies involved. (More)

Null, Brown to lead trip to U.S. Capitol. UCCS Political Science Professor Jim Null and CU President Emeritus Hank Brown will lead a group of undergraduate students on a class trip to Washington, D.C., to study art in the U.S. Capitol Building Nov. 13-15. (More)

VAPA students perform. Concerts featuring student ensembles will begin Sunday and continue through Dec. 11 as part of the fall 2009 Department of Visual and Performing Arts Student Ensemble Concert Series. (Concerts PDF)

Cookie exchange, literacy highlight campus appreciation reception. The Campus Appreciation Reception is scheduled for 4 p.m. Dec. 10 in the Upper Lodge. A cookie exchange and contest is planned and new or excellent condition used books are sought. RSVP for the event to Chancellor's Office exec1@uccs.edu. Preventing veteran suicide. Dr. Peter Wagner, Denver Office of Veteran Affairs, will discuss suicide prevention in the high-risk group of military veterans beginning at 1 p.m. Nov. 19 in UC 124. A neuropsychiatry fellow, Wagner will highlight suicide prevention by discussing myths, risk factors, warning signs, effective communication and how to refer a veteran for evaluation and treatment.

Kudos

Robyn Marschke, director, Institutional Research, recently graduated from the 2009 Higher Education Resource Service Institute for Women in Higher Education Administration at the University of Denver. For more than 35 years, HERS has offered women faculty and administrators an intensive program that prepares them to be higher education leaders.

Barbara Gaddis, director, Office of First Year Experience, received the First Annual Excellence in Leadership Award from the CU System-based Emerging Leaders Program.
