UCCS earns high marks in college sustainability report. UCCS received the highest marks for sustainability of any southern Colorado public college or university, according to a report issued Wednesday. (More)

Forum to predict 2010 economic conditions. Concerns about the slow economy, unemployment, retail and commercial activity will be contrasted with a slow rebound in housing and the influx of military troops to create an outlook for the southern Colorado economy in 2010 at the 13th Annual Southern Colorado Economic Forum. Former Senator John Warner to speak about climate change. Former Sen. John Warner, R- Va., who is also a former secretary of the Navy and was chair of the Senate Armed Services Committee, will speak at 3 p.m. Oct. 13 in the University Center Theater. (More)

Business faculty, alums lead discussion of city finances. The Colorado Springs city manager will be joined by the dean of the College of Business and a business faculty member in an Oct. 16 discussion of City of Colorado Springs finances. (More)

Dean to keynote multicultural education conference. La Vonne Neal, dean, College of Education, will be a keynote speaker at the 19th Annual National Association for Multicultural Education Conference Oct. 28-Nov. 1 in Denver. (More)

Research success draws praise, celebration. Red carpet and chocolate greeted faculty members who submitted a record number of sponsored research proposals last year in Tuesday festivities at the Lodge. (More)

Kudos

Graduate students in the Department of Counseling and Human Services in the College of Education were recently notified of the results of the nationally administered Counselor Preparation Comprehensive Examination. UCCS students passed at a 98 percent rate with one-third of the students scoring above the 90th percentile, according to David Fenell, professor, Education. Additionally, the Department of Counseling and Human Services graduate programs in Community Counseling and School Counseling were reaccredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs until 2016.
