Year in Preview. Chancellor Pam Shockley-Zalabak reported on record enrollment, new buildings, and new faculty and staff at the annual Year in Preview for deans, directors and department chairs. She also discussed what lies ahead for the university.
UCCS Honors Program. UCCS launched its first Honors Program this fall. With two levels, University Honors and Mountain Lion Honors, the program provides opportunities for students to work with faculty in smaller class settings, engage in collaborative learning and living via an honors floor in housing and are given special recognition at graduation. Capital Development Committee visits campus. Members and staff from the legislature's Capital Development Committee met with campus and system officials and also toured the campus on Wednesday, Sept. 23, for a briefing about UCCS growth and development. (Read a summary of the visit)

Cops, Coffee and Donuts. University Police invite the campus to join them for the eighth annual “Cops and Coffee,” from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m., Sept. 30, University Center , room 116. (See the invitation)
Athletics Silent Auction. Join the Athletic Department at the annual Evening with the Mountain Lions Silent Auction and Dinner, starting at 5:30 p.m., Oct. 11, University Center Gymnasium. UCCS professor presented prestigious CAREER award. Xiaobo (Joe) Zhou, associate professor, Department of Computer Science, College of Engineering and Applied Science, was recently awarded a five-year, $400,000 grant from The National Science Foundation’s (NSF) Early Career Development Program. The award, NSF’s most prestigious granted to junior faculty, recognizes early success. It will help support his research project entitled, “Building Resilient Internet Services with Learning and Control.” (Read more about Zhou’s award)
