Linhart earns UCCS Employee of Quarter honor

Standing six-feet-five-inches tall, Steve Linhart is a commanding figure on the UCCS campus.

But it is collaborative approach and hard work that earned Linhart, executive director, Student Support and Judicial Affairs, honors as the UCCS Employee of the Quarter.

“I have not encountered another individual at UCCS who is more passionate about the well-being of all of the students as well as faculty and staff,” Stephanie Hanenberg, director, Student Health Center wrote in her nomination letter.

Linhart came to UCCS in Nov. 2000 to work as a campus police officer. He quickly became a fixture of the campus as he chose to patrol the campus on bicycle. He was promoted to sergeant and deputy chief of police before being named executive director for the Office of Student Support and Judicial Affairs last year.

Active on campus and in the community, Linhart was recognized for his roles in Freshman Seminar, training of housing staff members, providing self-defense instruction to women and assisting with a campus health fair. In his current position, Linhart supervises the counseling of students as well as arbitrates disputes.

“I am appreciative of this recognition. And I’m assured that my performance on the cow bell had nothing to do with it,” he said, referencing his memorable performance during last year’s Staff Appreciation event.
