Spring 2009 enrollment up

More than 7,600 students enrolled at UCCS for the spring 2009 semester, a more than 5 percent increase from a year ago, according to statistics released today.

Steve Ellis, Office of the Registrar, reported that 7,693 students were enrolled as of Feb. 6, a 383 student or 5.2 percent increase from a year ago.

“In these difficult financial times, students are recognizing that putting their education first is a smart move,” Ellis said. “Additionally, the efforts by many to improve freshman student retention are shown in these figures.”

Student credit hour production also increased this spring with students enrolling in 89,166 credit hours, a 5,425 hour or 6.5 percent increase from last year. Student credit hours increased in all six UCCS colleges.
