CU to expand employee training, change platform

UCCS faculty and staff will have a new, greatly expanded library of online coursework available to them beginning Dec. 22. The CU System will change its delivery platform for all employee training from Blackboard to SkillSoft.

The change means UCCS faculty and staff will access required training through the “My CU” portal at www.uccs.edu. In addition to CU-specific courses, faculty and staff will have access to a library of professional development tools including:

  • More than 950 business skills classes.
  • More than 1,700 courses in information technology.
  • More than 380 classes in desktop skills.
  • Coursework in legal compliance and environmental health and safety.
  • Professional recertification courses required in fields such as accounting and information technology.
  • Electronic books from more than 250 publishers.
  • All faculty and staff are encouraged to complete any outstanding Blackboard coursework by Dec. 22.

Advantages of the new SkillSoft System, according to Kim Hennessy, director, Human Resource Compliance, include the library of professional development courses and improved ability to self-pace coursework.
