Craig Highline, corporal, Police Department, died Oct. 17 following an off-campus traffic accident near his home in Security. A campus vigil is being planned for 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 20, at the University Center. Teddy bears are suggested in memory of Officer Highline which will be donated to the Campus Holiday Service Project.
On behalf of the entire university community, I wish to express my condolences to the friends, family and colleagues of University Police Officer Craig Highline.
Corporal Highline, an eight-year veteran of the University Police Department, died early this morning following a traffic accident in Security. The accident is under investigation by Colorado State Patrol.
Officer Highline was a valued member of the police department and a respected member of the campus community. He was known as “Huggy Bear” among students who lived in university housing for his outgoing personality and care for others.
Memorial services are pending. As arrangements are finalized, they will be shared with the campus.
