Media Statement by Tom Hutton, spokesperson, UCCS
In re: filing of charges against university police officer Todd Vecellio

The university is enormously concerned about the seriousness of felony charges against one of its officers and will cooperate fully with the Canon City Police Department in its investigation.

We have no reason to believe the officer had inappropriate contact with students at the university nor do we believe any university-owned equipment was used.

Upon the filing of charges, the officer was suspended from the university police department without pay and will remain suspended during the judicial and administrative process.

“The university is enormously concerned about the seriousness of felony charges...”
