Celebrate Carol. Carol Schoffstall, that is, for her leadership of the Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences the past 17 years. The celebration begins at 4 p.m. today in University Hall Room 109.

Dive-in fun. Drive-ins are a thing of the past so why not a dive-in movie tonight at the UCCS Recreation Center? At 7 p.m., as part of a non-member open house at the Campus Recreation Center, the film “School of Rock” will be screened (waved?). For $1, non-member faculty and staff can enjoy all center amenities, including the movie.

Fall (and pancakes) in the air. Beginning at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, Staff Council and the Professional Exempt Staff Association will serve breakfast on the University Center Upper Plaza. Speeches by Chancellor Pam Shockley-Zalabak, Teri Switzer, dean, Kramer Family Library, and Steve Linhart, executive director, Student Support and Judicial Affairs, are planned. First fall forum to feature faculty issues, provost. The first Chancellor’s Office Forum for the fall semester is scheduled for 3 p.m. Sept. 23 in the University Center Theater. (More)

First woman in space joins with UCCS to promote science. Sally Ride, America’s first woman in space, will touch down at UCCS Sept. 13 to inspire local girls to dig into hands-on science at the Sally Ride Science Festival. (More)

English language learning authority to share ideas. An expert in helping public schools assist students who are English language learners will be the keynote speaker in a Sept. 11 UCCS College of Education community learning series. (More)

Suppliers showcase wares. New office products and technologies as well as items produced by
Colorado Correctional Industries and a first-ever hospitality showcase will be part of a Procurement Service Center-sponsored Supplier Showcase from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday in the UC Gym. Refreshments and door prizes planned. Register at https://www.cusys.edu/psc/showcase_information.html.
