LEED accredited, certified architect joins UCCS
An architect with more than 20 years experience and certified as an expert in energy efficient design is the new UCCS architect.
Carolyn Fox, previously senior project manager for Colorado Springs-based Colorado Architecture Partnership, began at UCCS Aug. 4. As university architect, Fox will be responsible for coordinating plans for new campus construction and renovations.
“I am pleased to have an architect, with Carolyn’s excellent qualifications, join Facilities Services. Carolyn brings a wide range of design and practical experience and a true understanding of the importance of sustainable design. I ask the campus to join me in welcoming Carolyn Fox to UCCS,” Gary Reynolds, executive director, Facilities Services, said.
Fox replaces Glenn Carlsrud who retired.
As a senior project manager, Fox was responsible for the design and construction of projects ranging from $500,000 to $11 million, consultant and contractor evaluation, supervision of project teams and consulting engineers, as well as coordination with building codes and Americans with Disabilities Act guidelines. Previously, she worked as a project manager in the Design and Construction Management Division of the City and County of Denver. There, she supervised the design and renovation of city-owned facilities and managed construction budgets, schedules and user group coordination. She received the Denver Public Works Hall of Fame Award.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in architecture from Syracuse University and is licensed in Colorado and New York as well as having national certification. She earned Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design accreditation in 2001.
