Announcements
Science Building bill signing scheduled for Monday. Governor Bill Ritter is scheduled to sign into law Monday SB 233 which authorizes the issuance of Certificates of Participation to finance $200 million in building projects at Colorado universities and colleges. A $17 million renovation of the UCCS Science Building is included. The signing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on the Auraria Campus in downtown Denver.
UCCS selects dean to lead Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences. Nancy L. Smith, currently associate dean, Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences at UCCS, will be promoted to dean of the college effective August 1. (More)
Let the sun shine in. Students at UCCS believe so strongly in the potential of solar power, they will pay an extra $5 fee per semester to install collection panels on campus. (More)
Commencement volunteers to meet. Volunteers to assist with Spring Commencement, scheduled for 11 a.m. May 23, will meet at 9 a.m. May 16 in UC 124. To make arrangements to get materials from the meeting, contact Tina Collins, program assistant, Office of the Dean of Students, 262-3258, tcollins@uccs.edu.
Students create Ent mural. A mural created by UCCS students for Ent Federal Credit Union was unveiled Friday afternoon at the service center in the University Center. (More)
Year in review. Chancellor Pam Shockley-Zalabak reviewed a multitude of campus successes and gave deans, directors and department chairs a view of the future, including the inclusion of new buildings on the UCCS wish list. (Powerpoint)
Health insurance questions answered. The names and details of health insurance plans for UCCS faculty and staff are different this year. Confused? Information sessions are scheduled for 9 a.m. May 16 for faculty and exempt staff, 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. for classified staff, and 10:30 a.m. for retirees in the University Center theater. Health insurance provider representatives will be on the third floor of the University Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (More)
Conflict clarified. The UCCS offices of Human Resource Compliance and Sponsored Programs will sponsor a Conflict of Interest and Commitment Information Session at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. May 14 in UC 124. The sessions will review CU, UCCS and State of Colorado regulations, including mandatory conflict of interest disclosures.
Art in Science/Science in Art. A juried exhibition of 30 works created by CU-affiliated artists and scientists opens at 5:30 p.m. tonight in the University Center. The exhibit will be on display through August.
