March Chancellor’s Forum to feature project updates, green tint. Chancellor Pam Shockley-Zalabak’s March forum, scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday in the University Center, will feature updates on building project s as well as campus sustainability efforts including how to be a Leadership in Energy Efficiency and Design (LEED) leader. Faculty and staff are encouraged to attend. Refreshments will be served.

Salaries subject for faculty, professional exempt staff meeting. Chancellor Pam Shockley-Zalabak will meet with faculty and professional exempt staff members at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the University Center Theater to discuss FY 2008-2009 compensation.

Provost candidate to visit. Jay Stein, director, Center for Health and the Built Environment, University of Florida, will present to the campus at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the University Center Theater. Stein is a candidate for the position of provost, according to search committee chairs Tom Christensen, dean, Letters, Arts and Sciences, and Leslie Manning, dean emerita, Kraemer Family Library. Women celebrated. UCCS will participate in International Women’s Day March 8 with remarks by prominent Colorado Springs women, poetry readings and a mini concert. The celebration will begin at noon in the Gallery of Contemporary Art and will feature Cindy Aubrey, news director, KOAA, Mary Lou Makepeace, former Colorado Springs mayor, as well as Aditi Mitra, assistant professor, Sociology, Mary Jane Sullivan, instructor, Philosophy, Curtis Smith, senior instructor, Visual and Performing Arts, and Kirsten Bartholomew, assistant professor, English. Amendment 41 clarified. A hold on Amendment 41 and its restrictions on university employees receiving gifts valued at more than $50 was lifted this week, prompting a memo from CU President Hank Brown . (More)

UCCS joins education effort to secure nation’s ports, islands. The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs will help education efforts to secure the nation’s ports and islands as part of a Department of Homeland Security Centers of Excellence Awards announced Tuesday, Feb. 26. (More)

Volunteers needed. Faculty, staff and students interested in helping UCCS prepare for a crisis are needed as volunteers for a full-scale exercise involving campus and area emergency responders March 28. For more information, or to volunteer, contact Tina Markowski, operations manager, Center for Homeland Security, tmarkows@uccs.edu, 363-3274. Markowski is serving as logistics chief for the entry point exercise.

Resume builder. Current UCCS students can build a professional resume and electronic portfolio on-line, beginning with their names as part of a new effort by the Career Center. The program, Optimal Resume, was funded by a grant from Target, according to Bev Kratzer, coordinator, Career Center. • Ella Stanton, manager, Resource Management, who retires today after 12 years service. Stanton was feted Monday and said she had enjoyed her years at UCCS more than any others in her career.
