Dave Willower

A facilities expert with more than 35 years experience is the new physical plant director at UCCS.

David Willower, previously manager of facilities and grounds for housing services at the University of Colorado at Boulder, was recently selected as physical plant director at UCCS. He began Jan. 7. His appointment was announced by Brian Burnett, vice chancellor, Administration and Finance, following a regional search.

“I am delighted that David agreed to join the UCCS family,” Burnett said. “His education and physical plant experiences in Boulder and New York will be valuable to the growing UCCS campus.”

As physical plant director, Willower will oversee the maintenance and upkeep of the more than 400 acre UCCS campus and its more than 30 buildings. He will report to Gary Reynolds, director, Facilities Services.

Since 2006, Willower was responsible for maintaining student living quarters and grounds at CU-Boulder. Previously, he served as manager of facilities and grounds operations at Buckley Air Force Base, Aurora, as director of facilities and operations for Saratoga Springs (N.Y.) City Schools, director of facilities and operations for Ithaca (N.Y). City Schools, director of physical plant at Finger Lakes (N.Y.) Community College and several physical plant management positions with Phillips ECG, Inc. in New York.

In his previous positions, Willower managed trade staff in areas such as electronic, plumbing, carpentry, metal fabrication, HVAC, grounds, and general plant maintenance. He also managed new construction projects valued at more than $85 million and several energy conserving utility retrofits.

Willower earned an associate’s degree in computer electronics technology from Cayuga County (N.Y.) Community College and a bachelor’s degree in organizational management from Roberts Wesleyan College, Rochester, N.Y.
